About Me

My background in Waldorf education comes from when my mum began working in a Waldorf kindergarten. After my school lessons, I used to spend my time there. Gradually, I became more and more involved by assisting whenever needed, eventually starting to work there as a kindergarten assistant. At the same time, I completed my degree in Speech and Language Therapy. During this period, I also became familiar with the Pikler approach, through a weekend workshop I attended in Madrid, Spain. In 2015, I relocated to the UK to work with children with special needs (SEND) in a Camphill community.

In 2017, when my first daughter was born, I decided to stay at home with her during her early years. However, I still needed some time to focus on myself, my plans, and restore my inner balance. Only in this way could I become the person and mother I wanted to be. I began searching for a nurturing environment where I could leave her for a couple of mornings a week. However, as a mother seeking a loving, familiar, and unhurried atmosphere, finding the right place proved to be a difficult task. One day, I found myself thinking about other parents facing similar dilemmas. Gradually, the desire to share this simplicity with other families and children grew within me, and the first seeds of what would become the Hummingbirds' Nest were planted.

In 2019, I obtained my NCFE CACHE Level 3 Diploma in Holistic Baby and Child Care (Early Years Educator) through Emerson College, and also welcomed my second daughter. Beginning this course during the first few months of my elder daughter's life gave me the courage to distance myself from the ingrained patterns in our culture regarding children's physical development, and witness how capable my daughters were of doing things by themselves, without mine and my husband's direct interference. Since then, I have become even more passionate about children's development.

In 2021 I registered as a childminder with the Ofsted.

The Nest

At Hummingbirds' Nest, the days are filled with the simplicity of everyday home life. Everything is created to enhance your child’s innate sense of learning through imitation. The days follow a predictable rhythm with a balance of structure and free play. The care moments hold a special place in our daily rhythm as these are precious for building a secure-trusting relationship with your child.

The Approach

The foundation of everything I do at Hummingbirds’ Nest is built upon the understanding of life and human development presented in Waldorf Education and the principles presented in the Pikler Approach: the respectful relationship between an adult and young child, a naturally paced motor development, free self-directed movement and uninterrupted play.
